OZ mirrors vs 'standard lancer' mirrors?

Hello all! Hopefully someone here can help me with a quick question.

A buddy of mine has I believe an 02 (possibly 03) OZ lancer. Another buddy broke his passenger side mirror off while goofing around one night (he basically sat on it). So we looked around the web to find a replacement mirror. What we found is that there are mirrors for the ES and such that are around $50, while the ones for the OZ are around $170. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between these 2 mirrors? We tried comparing photos but it's pretty tough to be sure. We also called the dealer and they gave us the same $170 price. Seems kinda fishy to me but I wanted to be sure before he orders the expensive mirror.

Thanks!

Its not black like the body, its a flat black, unless you replace both they won't be the same.

If your in the market for new mirrors just buy some aftermarket ones... screw Mitsubishi, they charge too much for the stock stuff anyway... or find a wrecked lancer with good mirrors and buy them. Check your local salvage yard.

I told him to go to the junk yard but he hasn't yet. Maybe we'll check that out this weekend. He already had the dealer order one but hasn't paid for it. The problem is that he needs it really soon because his inspection ran out last month. I'm thinking just buy the flat black one and get some gloss black auto paint and paint it himself. I'll have to give him a call tonight.

I'm sure he'd be all for aftermarket mirrors but he's on a pretty tight budget right now. I'll be sure to mention it though. Any links to somewhere he could get a set for cheaper than $170?

Thanks again, you guys are making me want a lancer now just so I have an excuse to hang out here! (Of course, that would mean giving up on VW, which I don't see myself doing... )

I've actually got a black ES and to completely honest you really cant tell the difference between mirrors and the rest of the body. Its not an exact match but really close.

Like someone else said, get a set of aftermarket mirrors off eBay. Some people have had problems with some of these. I love mine. Install was fairly easy. I'll see if I can find the specific ones on ebay for you.

Thanks everyone! Sadly (kinda), he's already ordered and installed the expensive one from the dealer.

Color keyed mirors is an option. It comes with the convience package for the ES.
