Unhappy #1 Cylender

hey .... my service engine soon light came on last night and i took it to my grandfathers cuz he has that computer thing were you can hook your car up to and it said there is a misfire in cyl. #1 ...... im going to change the spark plugs today ...... but i dont know how to do that .... i looked at it and i was like well f this imma get diretions lol ..... if anyone knows where a step by step instructions are please tell me ..... im hopeing its just the spark plug and not a head gasket

Don't be afraid of doing it. The spark plug work will lead you towards the turbo install. It's only a matter of jumping in.

It's unlikely that your head gasket is causing an ignition failure. For some reason the wasted spark system on the Lancers and Evolutions loves to misfire and throw codes. Go fig. If the plugs are relatively new I wouldn't even bother changing them. I'd just check to make sure they're clean and properly connected, reset the ECU and be on my way.

If your head gasket failed you'd see carbon buildup between the head and the block, and the loss of compression would probably cause the car to run horribly, if at all. Taking off the head is a lot more difficult (though still not terribly difficult) than checking the plugs...so unless you start throwing all sorts of wacky codes, just stick with what the scan tool is telling you and go one step at a time.
