I know very well that this noise could be one of a million things: when I turn on my car the engine ticks. I know I need to take it in to have it fixed but I just wanted to see if anyone had an idea of what it could possibly be?

 

do you have cams? If you do, it could be lifters.

Sometimes the lifters don't bleed right.....

You won't need to take it in to get fixed my friend; pretty much all our Lancers do that, whether '02-'06. It has been said that our lifters are the cause; but as far as clearing up that issue, there might have been a fluid mentioned that had helped some members. But off the top of my head, I can't rememeber. Most of us just deal with...

 

ValveMedic by Gunk, Rislone engine treatment (don't remember the exact name).

 

Lucas Oil Stabilizer helps minimize the sound too. only problem is when you stop using it, on that same oil change, you will here that sound louder than ever.
