service engine light

So I have seen a few threads around this question, but not one that pin's it... So let me get started
I dont trust mechanic's at all, Every car Ive brought to different mechanics have always came back worse or not fixed at all... So I must do this my self so dont tell me to take it to the shop k thx.
Now to the car... Yesturday I was driving on a on-ramp and my car just stopped accelerating I was going 20 for about 3 minutes with my petal to the metal... after it finally kicked in my "Service engine light" came on... any ideas?
my car is a auto, its at 111k miles, and in about 200 more miles the oil will b at 3000 miles...

Get the code pulled and see what it is. It could be something harmless or it could mean your engine is in a death spiral.

Figure out the codes is the start!

Sounds like the Mass Airflow sensor. Mine came off my intake and did a similiar thing. It wouldnt accelerate.

sorry ha, my computer messed up.. well i messed it up and i couldnt use it for a few days... but now then...
I went by their and they said cylinder 2 misfired, the guy said it could have just been a peice of trash or something that got stuck in the oil(?) or a spark plug misfire... so I rechecked my spark plugs that are only 300 miles old, they are still on the correct measurement... its not doing the problem any more, but im still conserned ... should i be?

check your wires. i had a tiny crack in one of my wires and it caused all sorts of misfires. it was so small i never noticed... then it started arcing and i ended up finding it on an inspection of everything after i put on my ported intake manifold.

i got a new wire from leftovers after my friend did a tune-up on his mother's eclipse and that fixed me right up!

Maybe you didn't plug the cables on hard enough the first time. If it went away I wouldn't worry too much about it.

or if you used some silicone to make the boots slide on easier you could have put too much on causing them to slide right off.
