Breaks squeaking

My brakes make a high pitch squeaking nosie when driving. They only make the noise when I am NOT pressing the brake peddle. I just had my rotors machine about 6 months ago for this problem, and it still did it so I had my pads replaced about a month after that. The problem stopped for about 2 weeks and is now getting progressively worse. Any idea?

edit: whoops i meant brakes

i can imagine it had something to do with having the rotors machined and then driving on your old pads and then switching to new pads. you should do 'em all at once. this may or may not be the case but it stands out as weird to me.

also, what brand pads are they? did you put any disc brake quiet on 'em? are they shimmed properly?

Well they were squeaking before I machined the rotors. I brought it into a local shop to have it done because I was just tired of trying it for myself. The shop used a brand called "PosiQuiet" OEM replacement pads. No idea if they machined the rotors or put disc brake quiet on them. I would hope that they would.

they could just plain be missing shims... my car had no shims on the pads when i bought it. there was no squealing until the brakes were in need of replacement. i had to get shims when i put the new brakes on. those squeal because they are porterfield R4s though, haha.

if a shop did the work and you're not satisfied with it--bring the car back to the shop and tell them to fix it.

Alright, I think I am going to take it back down there friday. Can't tomorrow because my mom got a flat and I don't really want her driving on the freeway with a spare. It's either they fix the problem or maybe a call to the BBB is needed. Thanks for the help man.
