removing stock brake rotors

i cant get the damn calipers off so i can remove the rotors. the top screw that holds on the caliper just wont budge. i cant afford an impact wrench eoither so what are some method of removing bolts thatseem impossible. the rotor would come out if i could get this damn bolt off.

you better try harder. I dont see any other way of removing that bolt without causing any damage. Did you try the other caliper as well?

umm- cheater bar. Torque wrench (dial-in style with a long handle). Impact guns can be found for (relatively) cheap at places like HarborFreight tools and are WELL worth every penny. Especially if you plan on doing your own suspension.
Also, there are impact tools that you hit with a hammer. They have sizes similar to impact guns (1/2, 3/8, etc.) and you just attach your impact point, chisel, screwdriver tip, whatever and bang at it with your fa-vo-rite hammer.

Good luck!!

Im not sure on the lancer but with most you should only be removing the bottom bolt and pull the pin out. If you have a strong socket wrench use a cheater bar for better leverage. Also try to use some PB Blaster on the bolt and let it soak in good, you can pick this up at NAPA. once you have the bottom bolt released you should just be able to pivot the outer caliper up. And have access to remove the rotor. Once you are ready to install everything back on there make sure you have a large C-clamp available you will need it to push the piston back in so the caliper will slide back down into place. Just place the movable part of teh clamp inside the piston and have the other side resting on the back of the caliper and screw it in and you should be all set.

Correct thats what I thought. The top one you should leave in and the caliper pivots up.

Okay I don't wanna call anyone names, butt if you can't get a brake caliper off a car thats not even a year old you don't deserve to be putting better rotors on in the first place, you shouldn't be aloud to even have an OZ.

Didn't want to call anyone names, and just avoided calling him a moron. Old Ben would be proud.

So the bottom bolt is out, and the aforementioned pin is out, too, and you still can't get it to pivot. You gotta get a can of that PB Blaster. It's in a can with a yellow cap and has all kinds of funky drawings and sideways writing and stuff.
Now, with that and some (more?) muscle you should at least be able to loosen that bolt.

Most auto parts stores will do a "free" tool rental as mentioned above (usually either an outrageous deposit so you wouldn't steal the tool, or a reasonable deposit because they haven't had very many tools stolen). You may want to investigate either the impact gun or long handled torque wrench.

Keep at it!!

Damn, those lacrosse sticks are handy!

Now, what are you doing to these rotors? replacing them with the powerslots? What about the pads?
