New Winter Tires = New Vibration

You will have to excuse my ignorance if this is really just normal symptoms of a switch to winter tires, but I have just fitted my GTS with a brand new set of Nokian Hakka RSi's (205/60R16) and notice that the car seems to shake/vibrate when riding at lower speeds (0-30KM/H ish). There seems to be no problems when I'm going over 50 though. I saw in a few threads that this could be due to a poorly done weight balancing or alignment, but I thought I would ask around before actually bringing it in.

Thanks in advance.

Bring them to the place that installed them, and tell them the problem, saying you were told to get them re-balanced

One thing I just noticed is that they used the lug nuts that were locking my 18" rims in (the ones that come with the GTS) and there seems to be some space between the actual rim and the nut. Enough that I can move the washer around a bit. Could this be doing it? The guys said it wouldn't be a safety issue, but could it be what's causing the vibrations?

yes. not likely bad balance would cause vibration at that low of a speed.

Yeah, I'd say the lugnut issue is the problem. Look into getting that handled. Maybe a spacer? Sounds like the wheel just isn't as wide as the stock ones.

I agree. When I had my 205/60R16 winters put on, they gave me a bag with the bolts that held my 18s in place. They said that the lugnuts just didn't hold the wheel in place the way they liked.

Nice thing is the new lugnuts were free (guess paying $650 for wheels and tires still gets you something for free)
