Weird noise at start up.

Today when I got out of work, I went to turn my car on, and it wouldn't turn over. It took about 15 or 20 seconds for it to finally start, and when it did, there was a sort of 'clunk' sound that came from the rear passanger side, and it started to smell like gas. The ride home was fine, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, but the noise and smell bothered me.

Has anyone else had this happen, and if so do you know what caused it? Is it something I should have checked out at the dealership, or wait and see if it happens again?

sounds like you flooded it, not sure how, but that might explain the clunk noise. The starting problem sounds typical, bring it up with your dealer. If you run into it again, simply push the gas pedal a little and that seems to get it to start right up.
