Audio Cutout

I have a 2008 Lancer GTS, Fully Loaded with the Sound Package, Navi, etc.

A problem that I have been having recently is that my audio just stops working all together, whether its my bluetooth, the radio, a cd, whatever.
No audio comes through the speakers at all....

It either happens when I first start the car, and then after a little while the audio will kick in.
Or it will happen while I'm driving and in the middle of a song and the music will cut in and out a few times, and t hen stop.

When it happens, I went to the navi screen and noticed that in the sound control section sometimes either none of the speakers are being detected, or the sub just isn't being detected. I'm thinking that this might be the problem; perhaps a loose wire connecting to the sub or something.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm going to the dealership ASAP to get it fixed, so we'll see what they say.

My moneys on the amp harness. Pending one single amp feeds the entire system.....

It isn't fried because the music comes back on and everything and then works fine.

I've done some fiddling around when the problem occurs, and like I said, the sub isn't being detected, so I'm thinking maybe its a loose wire.

Because when it happened again earlier today, I went to the service menu on the navigation, the secret one where you hold set + navi buttons to get there. And when I went to system network connections, everything was okay, but next to premium audio it said N/A...but when the music came back on, it switched to OK...so I'm assuming something isn't being detected.

I had a problem that sounds exactly like you describe when I first purchased my lancer (Navi Sun & Sound). After about 4 days in the shop without my brand-new car, the dealer fixed it by ultimately replacing the MMCS unit (or so they told me). They said they checked all the wiring harnesses, checked the amp, etc., and it all looked good.

The symptoms for me were when the car was cold (off for about 4+ hours), the sound wouldn't work (all sound including bluetooth, satellite, music server, radio, and even the touch-screen beep), after a few minutes it would start working then stop. Then after a few minutes of that it'd finally start working and stay working.

I just hope you get it fixed faster than I did!

That is the exact problem that I have Brian...down to every detail.

Maybe that is the problem because MMCS isn't detecting the sub...if it isn't an actual problem with the wire harness to the sub itself.

Sounds entirely plausible. If it is indeed internal to the MMCS unit, I bet there's a cold solder junction in whichever line it uses to detect/communicate with the sound system (the amplifier). Then as the MMCS heats up from being powered on (and believe me, the thing gets pretty hot!) the wire expands and the bad solder connection slowly starts to form a good connection.

Get the dealer to find and replace the faulty parts
