fan clicking?

Hello everyone.

I've had my car for 16 days and I've noticed a clicking noise every few seconds when I am idling. My friend just says its a fan shutting on and off, but I also noticed that it makes the RPM's go up a bit and then they go back down to "normal" (about 700).

Anyone have any idea what the device is that is doing this and why it does it?

Thanks in advance.

Also. This is a separate issue, but I have had two of the no start condition (but it started fine the second time). One was after a wash of the car and the other was just random in about 45 degree dry weather.

I have also had a few less than perfect starts...where the car seems to struggle to start, but does...it just doesnt fire up as smooth as I'd like (and as normal).

Do you guys think both of these conditions are due to the crappy relays?

Thanks

Thanks. I figured it wasnt a big deal...it was just changing my RPM's so I didn't want it to go on if it was some sort of a problem!

Thanks again.

GOD, no not you guys.

Please use the search feature, this topic has been discussed time after time, and everytime I seem to tell people that it is you a/c clutch kicking in!

Also, Radiator thermostat? Where the hell did you get that from? My gosh you guys. Please know what you are talking about before saying you know what it is.

well your gts has auto climate control, and seeing as you are living in seattle, you rainy weather is like that of mine up here in Vancouver.

So you have humid moist days, and you turn your heater onto defrost. When you are on defrost the a\c automatically kicks in taking moisture out of the air defrosting your windows faster.

anyways off topic, but wal mart tech aren't all that great they probably installed something wrong. Anyways:

The clicking you hear every so often is you a/c clutch. I told my buddy(another tech) and before I even fished explaining this thread he said a/c clutch. I said exactly.

Run your engine, turn on defrost, then open your hood and look at the a/c compressor pulley. Its the one furthest down in the engine compartment. And as soon as you hear that click, the center of the pulley will spin. I think this thread is ended.
