Rail dust

Just wondering if other WW owners (or anybody with a lighter color really) are discovering a problem with rail dust on their cars?

I don't think it's coming from trains as there are no trains in my area. Also the other cars in my household do not suffer from this. I also don't think its where I work since I've checked with other owners there with white cars and they have no rail dust problem.

So basically I believe the problem is possibly coming from the brakes. Brake dust is getting all over the car and turning into rust spots.

I'm going to pick up a clay bar tomorrow and clean them up..then see how long it takes to come back...hopefully it doesn't!!

The rail dust comes from when the cars are shipped via train from the ports to various parts of the country. My RR 03 AND WW 05 had some spots from it.

Yeah I'm starting to think where I work may be an issue so I started to park a little further away. I also clay barred my entire car a couple of days ago (took 3 freaking hours) and will keep an eye on it to see if it returns.

Yeah I thought about that...but I didn't see the rust for almost 2 months after purchasing my car...I guess it's possible it just took a while for the contaminants to rust. I just hope it doesn't come back now!

yeah I just got in from washing my car and noticing these as well. First I thought it was the car rusting. DOes anyone know the best way to get them off? They don't come off easily. Also, will they damage the paint?

I just noticed some of this while giving my evo its first good spring wash. Would claybar get the spots out?
