hey everyone ive had my 08 lancer ES for about a year now and ive come to have a lovehate relationship with it. i love the look the features. dont love the lack of speed and quality then again its a 20 k car. anyways my point is i have noticed my car does weird things many weird problems with my amp, windows, yada yada yada. the other day i was leaving my house turned and ripped up the street as i usually do (spirited driving style), i hit about 4 1/2 rpm and let off the gas when all of the sudden my car started to slow down like when u brake with your engine by downshifting. i looked at my screen and it showed a big D?? but it was acting like it was in L (cvt trans) i quickly shifted into neutral and back into drive and it was back to normal i thought 2 myself maybe i accidentally shifted into L (i keep my hand on the shift knob as im used to driving manual) but the screen showed Drive and the shifter was in drive. i ignored this till the other day when it happened again as i was ripping out of a parking lot into traffic. this time i didnt have my hand on the shift knob and it showed D on the screen. i know this got long but im wondering if this has happened to anyone or if my car is just weird

 

havent seen this problem in my 08 es cvt. on another note its RPM not rpm's...there no such thing as rotations per minutes.

I've had that happen to me a couple of time espec wen I drive spirited. It hasn't happened to me in a while though.

 

then what does RPM stand for? ( I know the answer, I'm seeing if you do) The way it was typed was not correct but your answer is not 100% factual.

 

simple mistake was in class early didnt notice till after the post, sry guy, will fix.

anyways thanks chetman at least i know im not the only one its happened to. im wondering if when this happened did you by any chance leave it and come to a stop, or did you do wut i did and shift out of it? im asking to see wut happens if u just leave it be. im not gonna lie it is fun when it happens because of the unexpected throttle response and the quickness, but it could be a little dangerous

 

I was on the highway both times it happened to me. so I just shifted into sport and back in to drive
