problems with MSD DIS-2 box
problems with MSD DIS-2 box
I just tried to install a MSD DIS-2 box on my lancer OZ. We have everything hooked up correctly with the addition of putting two diodes in line with the MSD trigger wires per request of my mitsu service department. At that point the MSD box wouldn't work but it would still start in the by-pass configuration. Then we tried it without the diodes to see if that was the problem. MSD box still didn't work and now we have no spark in the by-pass config. Has anyone experienced this problem or has anyone got it work correctly. We suspect that the coil packs are now blown, but we think that the problem with the box is that it is either bad or that the trigger wires were the wrong ones (service department told us it was the wire with the green stripe on one coil pack and the yellow on the other). Another possiblity we thought is that maybe because the engine fires each plug twice during a cycle that maybe it just won't accept the box. Also, the wire inputs are different on the coil packs then on most normal ones that i have ever seen. Usually there is on a power wire and a trigger wire, the lancer uses a power, trigger, and a ground. don't know if that is the problem but i strongly suspect and think that is why my car won't start at all. Please someone help, i am down hard right now. life sucks.
I think you're our pioneer in the ignition field.
I was thinking of a DIS-2 as well so I hope it's just a fluke and nothing having to do with compatability.
Wish I could help, but I honestly have no idea. Best of luck.

Sorry you were not informed of this, it seems that you have just proven this to be true for the Lancer as well. Dude In a Mirage I think it was suggested using Greddy E-Manage.
The real question is what did i burn up. the two most obvious choices would be the coil packs or the computer. i really hope it is not the computer, because that would not be cheap. i highly suggest no one else tries this until i figure this problem out. i am going to talk to MSD tomorrow and see if there is any way to make this work, but i think we are screwed here fellas. why do i have the feeling i just wasted $1000 for a new computer?
