My local mistubishi dealer. Forgive me for saying that i dont want to give out all the info unless they continue to say that my warrenty is voided.

To be honest i cant remember which filter i bought because i was deciding between a bunch of em. It was $15 at Canadian Tire, so it's not like its a moto master or anything.

I wanna be doing my own work on the car as well. Paying someone else for simple things like an oil change is too expensive. I'm not paying someone else $50 to change my oil in 10 minutes (probably leaving a bunch of the crappy stuff behind if they are doing it that fast), when i can do it myself for $15-$20 and let the oil actually drain out.

Anyway, i am dropping it off tomorrow morning and i will print off anything that i can use against them and i will ensure that they respect my warrenty. If they dont, then they will have a lawsuit so fast it aint even funny.

I keep regular tabs on the fluids in my car. I keep it clean and in shape. There should be nothing to complain about here.

Now, had i gone and started buying all the after market parts that i plan on buying next summer and something had gone wrong due to them, then i could see that.

what would an oil filter have to do with a clutch problem. Even if your car overheated i cant see that affecting your clutch??

Yep total BS!

Thats saying to you, that you can;t even touch your own vehicle or do any work on your OWN car!

Mitsubishi has their Diamond service "A", "B", "C", etc....
does anyoen actually follow this all the time?

Their "B" service is like $100+ and they only check a few extra things....
The "A" is just basiclaly oil, lube and filter change service.

I prob can do the "B" package stuff on my own!

So would THIS void my warranty too>??>

Well I'm from cananda too, and they told me that I 'Can' do it myself or somewhere else, but what I understood is if their is a problem and they want to be jerk and says it's your fault, it's gonna be a assle to prouve them it's not.

But I must admit that the fact that we pay our gts the price of the Us Evo, and being treated like that for that super gold 10years warranty don't get me appreciate the dealer...

Well i only bought the DE with a spoiler and tint for a few reasons

*It has the 152 horse 2.0 4B11 rather than the 153 2.4 that the gts has
*I personally couldnt care less about heated seats that i am going to replace with non-heated ones anyway
*I like middle armrest thing in the DE over the GTS.
*I dont care for the GTS body kit
*Since it is such a base model, i get a lot of playing around to do
* i talked them in to giving me the spoiler and 5% tinting free.

Even still the car was 20,000 Canadian. Looks like the MSRP in the States is ~15,000. Really, i didnt pay a whole lot extra for the DE from the states to Canada.

As for being on topic. That is exactly what i said. How can an oil filter have anything to do with the clutch? I was in a completely confused state when he mentioned this. They obviously figured out cars arent currently a strong point of mine. I am a software engineer, not a mechanic. I am definitely interested in figured these things out a lot more though .

ambystom01 - Your guide has been awesome so far. Thanks for writing it.

I call them "STEALERSHIP". Besides their high prices, that is bs. I also do my own oil changes.

ask them to put in writing how aftermarket oilfiter damaged your clutch
then send it into mitsu canada with a complaint filed.

btw service B, im due for it. i told them i STRICTLY only want an oilchange (too lazy to do it they charge me 40 bucks only)

but they said B also included tire rotations, i told them they are not allowed to touch my rims and tires cuz i got aftermarkets and i'll do my own rotaton cuz their torque gun fs up ur rims

GTS has 168hp for the 09 model.
The heated seats are super, esp in canada where I am (manitoba), and even in saskatchewan, ontario, or alberta....
You also get the spoiler and body kit as you mentioned..
But as well, you get a few extra things like the sport-tuned suspension, and the brakes are slightly larger, and the OEM tires/wheels are 18", actually not that shabby for OEM wheels!

I stand corrected. They were advertising 153 at the dealer. That's a little curious.

Yeah, i was considering that the heated seats would be pretty awesome for the -30C we hit fairly regularily here, but then i realised that i was probably going to tear them out for lighter seats anyway. Gotta be careful with the seats though. I tried sitting in a VW GTI the other day and the edge on those made me sit on my own nut like 3 times in one day. That alone would turn me off of the car.

Stock seats have Airbags. If you are going to switch them out you will have to deal with error codes on your dash.

The burden of proof is on them. Have it in writing, and have a lawyer ready for them. It's literally criminal, and you shouldn't give them an inch. Make them pay your lawyer fees as well; it may be time consuming, but they'll stop giving you trouble when it costs them to try to cheat you.

I had a similar issue with Honda for an air filter on a CR-V. They told me the replacement air filter caused the issue and it voided the warranty, but a coworker suggested I file a complaint with the state attorney generals office (I guess for you in canada, that would be the Ministry of Small Business and Consumer Services). Not only did I file the complaint but also made the dealer aware of what I was doing. I was later contacted by the dealer to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing and then they told me the issue was infact a recall issue which they fixed. I asked why the vin was not checked during the first diagnostic test but I was told the computer probably had the wrong Vin number.
