Question Help... where should this go??

My check engine soon light came on for about 70 miles when I was out of town then went off. As soon as it came on I pulled over and saw this wire, looks like a ground, that must have come loose. For the life of me I cant seem to find where it goes.

Can one of you guys look at yr engine and let me know.

The light has gone out but I don't want this just floating around in there.

Thanks in advance!

mike

Hmm. I dont have a lancer so I can look at mine but it should basically be fine if you connect it to anything solid that is chassis grounded.

On the second picture you provided there is a what looks like small threaded hole by that silver high pressure line (i think) in between the cap that has an H on it and a wire connector on the left. Looks like it could have been there. Find the right size bolt from a hardware store and bolt it up.

It looks like that ground wire connects to the bottom of that unit there. Which if i had to guess would be something with the EVAP or emissions or something like that.

Good luck!

02 OZ lancer... (I think that is what you are asking)

As for what the wire is, maybe a ground of some sort?

The wire should be grounding something as the other end is bolted onto the bracket/chassis:

Your absolutely right! I guess i didn't look hard enough. I was under the impression that it was not connected to the chassis.

Im not sure then it this case as I have no experience with your model or one of my own to compare to.

Good luck!

I think I figured it out... quite a while back I had the timing belt replaced. This should be an engine ground wire, attaches to the timing belt cover. Guess that wasn't why the light came on however....
