Order new parts or take it to a dealer and have it fixed. They are the only people that will be able to easily deal with any key issues as well. The thing missing in the picture under number 4 is just a little plastic plug, which is no big deal.

Question

Thanks alot Stuntflly you actually been soo helpful with all your information i dont regret buying that car now it was way worth it!! My last car was a 1996 Mitsubishi mirage that i rebuilt and i cant wait to drive this car lol when i get it running.

But i just bought the whole steering column on ebay soo it will come with all the parts so where i can put back together the steering column and ill buy any other things i need.

But i want to ask is it possible to buy those fob keys devices on ebay ( like this for example http://www.ebay.com/itm/190688827407...ht_1299wt_1285that will work on my lancer and then having a lock smith make the keys instead and just taking the car so the dealer can program the Fob? to save money?

Depends if that car has the smart key setup or not. Its a device that as long as you have that thing in your pocket when you are within a certain range of the car the doors unlock when you pull on the handle and the car will start without a key in the ignition. There is like a plastic plug that would be there. You would most likely have to have a dealer run the vin number to tell you everything that was on the sales sticker/installed on the car from the factory.

Is what you will most likely need for your car. A locksmith can cut it IF they have another original to make a copy from. There are few locksmiths around that will be able to make a key without re-keying the ignition. The dealer is your best option when it comes to the key. They will be able to cut it based on the VIN as far as I know. And if there is anything showing what dealer the car was purchased at, I would call that specific dealer. They will have an easier time finding the info on the car I would think. They are most likely going to charge you $80-100 just to program the keys. And I suggest you get 2 of them.

And not to say anything bad about any other members, but if you are the person that made the thread a few months back that was talking about a similar lancer. I don't think there are a lot of people who want to touch this topic. They either aren't sure about buying a car from an auction. Which I have never done, but I can think about the issues there could be and justify a certain price I'm willing to pay. Or they don't want to give bad advice so don't bother lol.

Yah I have the smart key set up. The doors have the plastic thing in the handles . I had emailed the dealership and they basically didn't wanna tell me what remote was compatiable with my car just told me there remotes are the one with the less trouble.so they just want me to buy there remote.

I was thinking of getting the two remotes but I was wondering if that squared remote would work also?

Hey, sent you a PM, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier about this car, I was away on vac. The KOS module is responsible for you FAST key system. If it still works (doubtful) then you will have to go to mitsubishi and get new fobs programmed to that module anyways. If the ebay ones will work, I don't know. You will most likely have to get a new ign. cylinder and tumbler (if possible to get separate, and if possible to remove since the damage) If not, then a whole new ign. switch. Good luck!

I looked at the e-bay one, it is a factory key FOB, just used. That should work unless it is damaged itself. Unless you have to old keys, you will have to replace the ign cylinder and the door lock cylinder to match the new keys.
