RRM Gunmetals leaking

My gunmetal tailights (well I should say Depo tailights) I guess are leaking. I don't see water sitting on the bottom of them, I will have to take them out and look tomorrow about it. But for like 3 days now there has been like condensation inside it on the lens.

How do I fix this problem? Seal around the edge? And how do I get that condensation out?

Also when I first got these one of the prongs inside the bulb socket was broke so I had to fix that because the light.

And the overall fitment is ok, not the best I guess.

So I give these tailights a 6 out of 10.

Oh ya and back to the problem, how do I fix the leaking?

Why do I have to bake it? Couldn't I just put the silicone on it?

Baking them assures the silicon spreads properly into area where air/water is seeping in through.
I guess you dont HAVE to bake, as silicone does the job.
Baking them just softens up the silicon a little.
good luck!

Hey I started that thread!! heh heres what i did.

1. Went to home depot and got clear water proof silicone $1.69
2. Let the lights dry out for a week (i guess you could use a hairdryer too but make sure they are completely dry.
3. take out all the light bulbs and wiring
4. seal up all the holes with tape except for the the largest one
5. Get a vacuum and stick it in the hole then tape around the vacuum to get a seal.
6. apply the silicone in a thin layer into the space where the clear lens meets the gunmetal housing.
7. the suction will pull the silicone in where ever it is leaking and make a water tight seal.
8. when your done, take a flathead screwdriver and tool the interface and make it smooth to make it look nice.
9. let them dry the install.

mine turned out good you can hardly tell that they have been resealed. Just out of curiosity, did you get yours directly from rrm?
I got mine from ebay and was just wondering if i got a defective set. thanks

I would also try checking the washers around the bulbs.. if you had to fix the one, you might have cut the washer some... maybe try larger ones that make you have to force hte bulb into the housings...

Silicone is kinda thin and can run inside the light or show through on the outside. Makes it look like a crinkled edge when you get done.

I used some putty that electricians use to plug holes in conduit. HVAC guys use it too to go around pipes when they go through a wall if they want a seal. It is the consistency of clay except it never dries out, is water proof, and only goes where you want it. Just roll a nice bead out with your hands and press it in all the way around the light.

If your fix doesn't work, contact Maxzone. They will replace it. easier for you to try a simple fix like that though. They are very good about stuff like that. Just tell them you bought them from us.

Alright, that's a great company if they will replace it.

Only the best from RRM!
