friends lancer intake problems
hey,
my friend put an intake on his lancer..jus a MAS adaptor and cone filter....and his check engine light came on..and his car runs like crap and stalls out...he did plug in his MAS but he had one of his friends put it in...i think they may have broken the sensor and it is giving false air readings...he unplugged his battery but it still turns on....idles normal....then get shakey and stalls. help? also...is the 1.8 mirage MAS the same as the lancers? how much is a new MAS for a lancer

intake
When i got mine intake put on i noticed the same thing at first. I goit it done at a shop so i took it back to them and they noticed that the filter was a little big for the opening so there was a littel space between the adapter palte and the rubber at the end of the filter so i had to change filters and that took care of the problem.
Did you reattach the vaccuum tube that goes on the intake or was it completely removed? And I knowthe MAS question has been answered before...I'm pretty sure the answer was no. Try to find the thread where the guy screwed with the honeycomb mesh on his MAS.

there is a possibily of breaking the sensor, very fragile like the honeycomb.
once you have disconnected the battery for the CE light, the car will be set back to factory default performance perimeters.
I can't explain the CE light after disconnection of battery . . . not all the stuff is plugged.
Yes, the MAF is the same between the 1.8 and 2.0L . . . Mitsu'd cost cutting effort to share some components.
I'll find a link.

first thing i'd do is revert back to stock, see if thats the problem. if all is fine and well got back to the cone filter. make sure that u have all your connections good and tight, make sure that the MAS is plugged in and yea as for the CEL, uhm give it some time. the purpose of disconnecting the battery is to get the ECU to forget some of its stored memory, and by disconnecting it for 15 minutes, it is forced to relearn everything it forgot, including how much air is flowing thru the MAS
