Backstory; I have a 2009 Lancer GTS 5spd, purchased it for cheap due to original owner bailing on the rebuild. have two engines, both have a destroyed oil pumps...
I did a complete clean rebuild minus the oil pump and the car ran for maybe 100 miles, all new internals, and the only thing I found bad in the "new" engine was a spun connecting rod bearing. Took the crank into a machine shop and everything checked out, just needed new bearings. Threw it all back together and drove it until the horrific sound of grating metal pushed me into my current situation. long story short, I'm trying to figure out what is causing the oil pump to chew through its internal gears. First engine had teeth in the pan when I pulled it, and I saw the price of a new pump and decided I'd take my chances on the second engine instead. Also, is there any other inter-changeable oil pumps? when searching the "1125A203" oil pump I could've sworn I saw it on jeep parts listing for a fraction of the price. Or is there anywhere out there that sells rebuild kits for these? I'm about to disassemble my semi-decent one and see if I can 3d print the gears inside...
