spark plug Q
spark plug Q
ok i went to www.sparkplugs.com i found the plugs for the lancer. now are these plugs better than the stocks or r they replacements. are platnum also. i was thinkin about gettin them..
The whole point of a spark plug is to help response a little bit and hopefully not have them foul up as quickly and easily as the stockers. My logic: iridium if you can, platinum if you must, copper if you're boosted. It's not like they're adding power, just creating a nicer spark to burn more fuel in one pass.
ok...so i switched my plugs and its idling right about 500rpm...but itll jump up to 700 after like 30 seconds after i stop...anyone else experience this or anyone have any idea what it may be??? help please

Well, for some reason platinum plugs don't work on the DSMs and so far the best results people had with the copper ones (NGK bpr6es or 7s). That might be a turbo thing as someone else mentioned, who knows...

I'm not concerned about the car. I've never stalled or had any mechanical problems. I just think it's funny how low it can go before stalling and then the difference between that and putting the heat on "1"

I guess I'm a little into the conspiracy theory of "aftermarket products" but don't you think that the
engineers would pick the best sparkplugs for the car? If they could get a couple more horses out of a different set of plugs they probably would have gone with them.

You won't get a couple more horses from sparks I don't think. I also think they'd pick whatever was cheapest, worked fine and wouldn't fail too often.
If cars were built to peak performance there wouldn't be any abillity to tune and they'd require more service/attention.
Mitsubishi isn't building cars so you can have a grand ole time driving them. They're building whatever it takes for them to make money off you. It's a business, not a passion.
