This is how someone explained it to me (so if someone wants to add or change something, go for it)... With the GT coilovers you can adjust how stiff or soft you would like your ride to be(there are 4 different settings you can choose from). The softer setting would absorb bumps in the road better than the stiff setting. With stiff you would feel every single bump and/or imperfection on the road.

But your car will handle better with a stiffer shock setting... am I right?

Yes and no, a properly set up suspension is more important than simply having stiff shocks and springs.

In retrospect I think I have the SS kit. I don't have the ability to adjust the dampening. I can tell you though if you just want a street ride that is lower and much better than stock the SS should do you just fine. I don't see myself at the track doing autoX so I really don't need the ability to adjust dampening. I just have my ride height set at the setting I'm going to leave it at forever.

I have the SS also. They are a great buy. I wish I new about the GT kit when I bought them.

A little surface rust on the sleeve. That has been fixed.

Hey Kurt, looks like you have some premature inside tire wear from a little too much negative camber.

How many miles do you guys have on these setups? I'm just curious about the build quality of these versus K-Sport and D2 coilovers, because now I have 4 options available to me in the $800 range (including Tein BASICS).

Ignore the tire wear in the picture. Those tires were fried from the progress springs that I had on before, plus they were my old front tires.. I have new tires now, and when I took it in for an alignment, the rear was in spec. The only alignment issue was with the front. The toe was off a little.

As of now, I have 3500 miles or more on them, I forget.

So you adj the height for how high or low you want your ride. what does adjusting the shocks do? Does that make the car ride stiffer ?

Another little update. I just made a 2500 miles road trip. I was surprised by how comfortable of a ride that I had from the NEX coilovers. It was easy to fall asleep while my wife drove and not be woken up by bumps in the road.

Before the NEX coilovers, I had Progress lowering springs.
