I am just curious, how much faster can the intercooled version be? I mean I understand you are cooling the intake charge into the engine, but you also are sending the air through more piping which inherently has more losses. I can see the real benefit of the intercooler when the car has been running for a while and its a hot condition, but Im interested in knowing a side by side comparison.
I understand the intercooled version will spit more hp, but Im just wondering how much. Im not asking for dyno numbers or anything, Im just curious. Either way bravo to RRM for helping out us auto guys.

well i am getting to a dyno soon. i am not sure when i can get there but i am workin on finding time.
This car is MUCH faster than the non-ic version. Now i wont have a dyno to show what it was before IC but i will have a final dyno of the IC kit only, i have NO OTHER MODS. thats right nothing to skew the results.
hang tight,

ok not tryin to nay say but...
the auto can only hold like 6psi right?? maybe i am wrong. hopefully i am i have an auto and have almost given up hope. another ? is will my header still work rock??

With intercooler you will be able to do 7psi on the auto(above that i'd not recommend to anyone without a biuld up)
... as for how much faster the intercooled setup is.... Vince would never even see my license plates after 2nd gear... this time he was only about a cars length away by the time i hit third. Id say the kit is easily a 20hp increase and surely noticeable from the drivers seat.
The engine is the same and so is all header issues. Only fitment that is different is the air piping.
As far as conversion kits the VII's front is actually more open which would allow for more air on intercooler and air filter itself. There shouldn't be any fitment issues as it still uses the factory mounts for setup/install.
As for the auto being faster i said the auto intercooled versus the 5 speed non-intercooled should be about equal... the reason being is the auto actually should have about the same hp then and the auto gives him a better launch than even i could achieve. In first gear we were side by side because of all the wheelspin i had only after shifting into second did i start pulling. This was with me being intercooled and at only 7psi. Use a non-ic(5 speed) at 5psi and auto-ic'd at 5psi and there's going to be a close race. Take the auto to 7psi with non-ic at 5 and i think the auto would win.
Seriously the ic setup for auto is a real kick in the pants. Seems like a rocket compared to the non-ic'd setup. Huge difference to me and i'm a really critical person.

once i get on my full exhaust form buschur and this intercooler im hitting a dyno, good luck with the car vince!
other than you being able to squeeze every last rpm outta the manual, wouldn't the auto be able to hold better through shifts than a manual?
Now all guru needs is level10 TQ converter and tranny, then he could probably hold out 8psi, unless hes still stock internals

still stock internals, however you arent too far off with the other mods. I am in contact with some torque converter companies and I am probably going to rebuild my transmission myself.
I am saving for rods and pistons however that wont probably be for another 6 months.

here is a link to a large image of the cold air intake setup, bov and some other tid bits. you can see why the battery had to go.
