ho do those tires hold up when driving on normal roads? I ask this because driving to the mountains usually takes an hour or so and i want to know how they will do getting there without snow.
I would not reccomend it if you get them studded however the reviews so far are very favorable.

"Just put these tires on my 1990 Honda Prelude, and what a difference! The traction in ice and snow is incredible. Ride is quiet, even better than my all season Bridgestone RE910. No problem with tires heating up, and superb handling on dry roads as well as ice and snow. Overall the best tire I have ever driven on, and a very good value Since Edmonton winters are rather harsh, if it will work for me, it will work for you. The big advantage of these tires over previous snow tires I have owned (bridgestone blizzak) is that these do not heat up like the blizzak when the road is dry. My bridgestones wore out very quickly. It is too early to tell if these will outlast the bridgestones, but i have great faith that they will. For all you guys out there who have been wondering if a snow tire makes a difference, these ones really do!" -rdyerby

a few questions
1) Does this model Hankook actually qualify for the severe winter rating from the rubber manufacturers association (has the snowflake on mountain logo as part of sidewall) or is it only classified as a Mud and Snow radial (M+S)
2) For the OZ, a 185/65/14 actually results in some speedo error in comparison to the 195/60/15 stock package. Any reason why 185/70/14 isn't the recommended size as this would provide virtually no speedo error
Thanks
For those not familiar with the rating I'm talking about it looks like this:

For those not familiar with the rating I'm talking about it looks like this:
Severe snow.
and the speedo error you mention is minimum, (around 1mph at 60) however by retaining the shorter sidewall I can keep a higher speed rating and allow a sporter tire to be delivered to my customer while retaining the severe snow rating. (to me this is more important then a speedo reading 1-2 MPH fast)
Thanks
