Tidbit: On the British program(me) Top Gear, they ran the C6 just slower than the Evo FQ320 around their track. 1:26.0 for the Evo versus 1:26.8 for the new C6. In other words, with a couple of very basic mods, the Evo will beat even the newest Vette around a track...

Also, the host said "If you want a plastic left-hand car with Vietnamese suspension, then the C6 is for you"

Yeah that was a cool video. It's floating around the forums here somewhere.

Though, that's kind of a non-issue here since it was an UK MR..

depending on the year of the C5. in 98 they had 345hp and 350tq. in 99 the hardtop came out and it was 100lbs lighter. the 98 ran 13.8@102 the 99 hardtop ran 13.2@107. But i think that probably had something to do with testing conditions and other factors. The later corvettes came with 350hp and 375tq. there numbers were about 13.6@107. Traction with all that torque being the issue. If you go from a dig, MBC intake, exhaust and flash will win you that race. Remember they will have a harder time launchin than you. Most of them get pissed when they see an big winged ricer jump out in front of them so they mash the gas, and spin the tires, thus resulting in a loss on there part

a blue Z06 was running 13's in Englishtown last Wed. this Evo was running low 12's (12.3/12.5), unfortunately I had to leave early due slipping 27k stock clutch.

A stock Z06 can do mid-12's.

Even then, don't underestimate them. An '03 was on my shopping list for a reason. I want to do SCCA Club Racing, but really, I don't stand a ghost of a chance in the MR against the Z06's unless it freakin' snows. Until then, I'm a rolling speedbump.

Handling schmandling. Off the lot you're looking at a 130HP deficit, and the LS6 is a strong engine. Going fast in the fast parts is what matters, and a well set-up Vette can corner nearly as well. Just because you can "hook up" an MR, doesn't mean the Vette isn't hooked up. Track-readied Z06's are devastating, and a regular C5 can be just as brutal.

Not really. I'm just not going to compete in T1. In T1, if you don't have a Z06, you lose. Period. Even the Vipers dropped this year. No other car will be competitive until there's some serious rules changes.

Depends on if you don't mind replacing your transmission every six months.

i just ran with a black C5 vette today, wasnt a Z06. He took off before the light even changed and got a car infront of me, but i caught up and kept with him till we caught up to the pack of cars, we were goin 95+ (big strip of road) i was pretty damn impressed at our Evos, and all i have is a intake.
