99 Viper Vs Evo

Ok guys, my friends boss has a 99 Viper (intake & exhaust from what he said) I am going to run him (win-lose i don't care) Im pushing 310, i just did some work. You think I got a shot? Im guessing I run a 12.4, 12.5...a stock 99 runs 12.5ish? What do u guys think?

Whatever you do dont do it from a roll! If you get a good lauch you may be able to get him until about 100mph, after that i think he will just start pulling. Give it a shot, even if you loose it wont look bad the thing has an 8 liter v-10!!

What dyno with 310hp? My car had 312 WHP and I ran it once running a 12.7 which is the best possible driving i can do.

I use be a huge drag enthusist modding my old mustang. I really don't like dragging the evo since it is a 4wd car and hard on the car. I just like to run it once just to see what it does. Launching is the key to the evo. Drop at redline, speed or powershift and you should win. Especially in cold weather and the viper would just spin tires if surface cold and track with poor suface conditions.

Oh yeah if you don't do it on the track you can always cheat. He will never notice the .5 sec jump on the throttle. That should bring you to low 12's from his point of view with agressive driving.

Launch is the key. If you screw up the 1-2 shift you've probably lost the race....even if he's a mediocre driver. Good luck.

I'm tuned for 93 and I put about 1/2 104 in at the track and it seemed to knock maybe 2/10s or so off my time... I was running flat 13.0Xs and got it down to 12.81. Also, I think I was shifting a bit better Good luck with the Viper race... I think you'll win outright only if he makes a mistake and you drive perfectly. Here's some inspiration: I beat a slightly modded 996 on every pass last friday!

That would be a good question for Al, assuming you are speaking of DynoFlash. I wouldn't think it would be a big deal, but on the other hand it wouldn't surpise me if you could do some damage.
I would get an answer to that question before trying it.
