I am just curious on everyones thoughts on the Dodge Neon Srt-4. I keep hearing that they are very fast especially with the factory mopar upgrades. Has anyone experienced one of these cars before or no anything about them. I no they dont compare to our prescious Evo's but for the price and what you get they sound like a good deal. Any info on what they feel like compared to our Evo's and thoughts on the looks of the Srt-4. Thanks

 

From a roll the SRT-4 is extremly even with the Evo. Most magazines rate the whp around 240 in stock trim. I was up against an SRT before and I slowly walked on him with just a cat-back and K&N filter. With the right driver they are very capable cars. I give them respect because they are a domestic brand and a very rare case (at least until GM and Ford jumps on the bandwagaon).

Keep your eye's peeled for these guys, especially if they are running the stage 2 or higher upgrade.

its actually a pretty good car for the price. co-worker has one and i was pretty impressed. only downfall is FWD.. hes got some basic mods and he said traction in bad weather, even light rain.. it has a tendacy to spin out.

Yes as everyone has stated, if you search around there are plenty of threads that beat this subject to death.

As far as the comparison between the Evo8 and the SRT-4, there really is no comparison. Two different cars for two different purposes. Stock for stock the Evo just does everything better than the srt.

HOWEVER, don't under estimate the srt. Midly modded (and even super modded) you'd be surprised what the neon can accomplish. Especially with all the Mopar upgrades. Need 300+ hp? Mopar's got it with the new Stage 3R turbo upgrade. Want superior handling? Take your pick from Mopar's Stage 2, 3 and 3R coilover systems which were produced by KW Suspensions. The 3R gives you the options for different spring rates depending on your needs. Mopar has also just released upgraded rear control arms for a larger adjustability range of camber and toe, front/rear titanium strut bars and higher durometer motor and suspension bushings. Mopar has everything an enthusiast would want to upgrade.

Best thing to do is drive to your nearest Dodge dealership and take one for a test drive for your own conclusion.

 

I don't get this. It's like a foxbody 'stang owner going to a vette forums asking "how's the next cobra comparing to the vette" or "how's the RSX type-S" in a j-body or DSM forum. Jeez . . . they are out there in internet land, just search for them.

 

Oh and if you take a look at the performance ratings for the Stage 3R turbo upgrade on Mopar's site, although they state those are flywheel numbers, they are NOT. They are TO THE WHEELS.

for me its more of a personal thing. my lancer looks great. but i want something faster. and for 20g and can keep up with nearly anything on the road. stong selling point. it doesnt have to beat everything. but as long as people wonder..'if hes got a stage 2..i may not kill him'

i dont care if it looks like a neon..its poweful. my lancer looks prettier than a lawn mower..but can barely beat one.
