Test drove a '05 SRT-4

let me start off by saying i love the engine and i love the price, so dont start spattering off like "yeah but..." cuz i know its strong points and its capabilities

however, i gotta say the interior just seems cheap to me, the viper seats are cloth, that shifter looks like a tower, and the fact that it remenises the PT cruiser interior kinda makes me gag. The kicker sound system available with the 05 is very nice though, proper amount of bass for whatever you listen to, me being a fan of metal made me impressed even more. the other opition available with the 05 model is the moon roof, that was cool, rear visability kinda sucks though, the only other thing i didnt like was that the rear window arent power, just the front, what a pain in the *** for friends ya know? i mean they already got the front 2, lets just keep goin and make it 4 alright dodge?!

However i do love the front look of the car, looks bad-*** and mean despite the neon simularities, the rear, with out the dual exhaust and the round-as-hell wing you couldnt tell the difference between it and a neon to save your grandmother if she was outside in the cold, naked, with an open knife wound

Handling sucked. thats right i said it, my dang lancer handles better, i now know the full meaning of the phrase "no point in having power if you cant get it to the ground" keep in mind the tires it comes with are primo tires and stick very well, but going 3500rpm's in first and gunning it, i got the tires to spin and had to ease up to gain traction again, thats cool and horrible depending how you look at it. and yes i know its not AWD and isnt supose to handle as well as an evo, but dang youd think that new LSD would compensate for the power, fact is this is a straight line sedan, and breaking is just as loose as my lancer, not impressed

overall evaluation (my opinion mind you): very very good engine, semi-nice looks, sounds mean, everything else can blow me, rather spend the extra dough for an evo, or even a WRX for that matter

well, it's not exactly "extra dough" for an EVO....it's 10 large. When compared to other cars in it's price range the SRT stacks up very nice. But your take on the handling is pretty much on......which is the reason I've traded up

yeah i mean ive driven an evo before, and i dont know if its just because its the same interior as my car, but it feels so much more fun and comfortable then that srt4, and you can get evo's at like 500 above cost where im at (irvine ca) cuz the mitsu dealer is actually overstocked on evos and has like 6 MR's, some people prolly arent gonna believe me, but hey man, its the OC we got everything and more according to that crappy show

Nice review, what was sticker... i know its no longer the best bang for 20k. Dodge should listen to japanese engineers:

Even with a great engine, if the suspension isnt set up to accomadate the power, it's useless

yeah it was like 22k, which goes against the ads they were poppin off last year, and deffinetly the year before that, when you buy this car your basically paying for an engine and a place to put it in, its definetly a kit car

Hey loj68, just wondering how your new 350Z (which by the way looks gorgeous in yellow) stacks up to your previously owner SRT-4? Is the 350Z worth the extra dough?

Congrats on the new ride. Too bad you got rid of the SRT.

Just curious, if handling on the car was under par, why didn't you upraded the suspension?

I don't pick up my Z until tomorrow but I have test driven it quite a bit. It's definitely worth the extra dough for the RWD, looks, and overall improvement in refinement that only an import still gives. Honestly, the Z feels about equally as fast as the SRT-4 so not much of a jump in speed....but the RWD and handling is like night and day....it's so awesome. I was thinking of upgrading the SRT suspension but didn't bother since the FWD was one of the main things I wanted to change and that's not possible. Plus the Z is soooooo sexy IMHO.
