Evo mr vs Mach 1 mustang
Evo mr vs Mach 1 mustang
ehh another mustang question lol.. one of my friends has a mach 1 with exhaust n headers n intake..im getting an evo in a couple of months n i was thinking if we race and i was stock (ill prolly be bone stock for ONLY the break in period) could i keep up with him or even beat him ?
I'm the biggest defender of the EVO, but your going to most likely lose this race, your stock and he's not. From a roll, it might be kind of bad, maybe like 5 or 6 car lengths. From a dig you may have a better chance, but you got to learn how to launch AWD on the EVO, so you may even lose that way too. Don't worry once you get more use to the car, and start to mod, challenge him again...
A friend with a lightly modded Mach 1 ran high 12's (sorry, forget what his trap speed was)at our local track last year. He had some light intake and exhaust work too as his only mods.

A stock Evo will keep up (at least) with a stock Mach 1 (from my experience, I launched bad on one, but he seemed to do well enough, so I had to catch up in the first 2 gears, but from there on out it was fairly even; I suspect at highly illegal speeds he would have inched away from me). However, Machs respond very well to mods, so if you want to keep up with him, get through the break in period fast and start modding. A manual boost controller and exhaust should handle it for roll on situations. If he has gears and better tires, he would be a good match from a roll or a dig.
From a roll...you dont have a chance.
From a stop...you have to be a good driver. Youl prolly be ahead of him early, but if he gets some power to the ground early, you prolly wont win the 1/4.
Mach 1's come with 300 hp. His mods will take him in the area of 330-340 or so at crank. He should be able to run low 13's to high 12's.

I'd only race him from a dig. Exhaust mods do wonders for the 32 valve engine. They do, after all, come with 6 cats. btw, with those mods he should be pushing over 300 RWHP. Stock Mach's typically dyno above 280 RWHP and are underrated by maybe 5-15 HP. They're rated at 305 for the '03 model and 310 for the '04 model, not 300 by the way. Hope that helps.
i agree with the others a stock evo will lose from a roll to a mach 1 or pretty much any LS1 powered car... I think you would lose to a LS1 car from a dig to if both drivers know what they are doing.
