time to choose project car

Well I am going to decide this week what car I am going to get for my project car. I've narrowed it down to gc8 style 2.5rs, 97 talon tsi awd, or a 97 integra type r. What do you guys think? They all have their own appeal but was wondering what others thought, maybe with experience?

integra =] There are millions of mods for those. Plus you have the ability to do all the cool honda/jdm engine swaps. A H22a Turbo would be nice.

What will you be using the car for? Drag? Auto-X? Road course..? The Integra, as mentioned already, would offer a lot of motor choices and about a zillion modifications. The Talon TSI would be good too especially if you are not just focusing on straight line performance. Let us know what you wanna do with the project car and I'm sure you'll get some good pointers!

I will be using the car for all different types of racing. Drag, track, solo2 but drivable on the street as well.

Haha it looks like a bunch of suggestions that weren't on his list are popping up... Personally, I think the Talon TSI would be a good setup for all these things. Asking this question with these options on evom.net may point you that way since a lot of us do enjoy the performance that DSMs have to offer but that's just my thoughts. I'm sure the Integra or Impreza would have a lot to offer too depending on how big your mod budget is.

If you live in a major city that is into cars, the type R will be stolen in a day. My friend had a modded 2.5rs that blew several engines and just deteriorated FAST.

So if you want a japanese car, I would go DSM, 240 with an RB swap, MR2 turbo, or RX7 if you can afford it

If you are willing to venture into the domestic market, check out a used vette.

True that to the hotter than Brooke Burke Type R's... But if I had to have a project car Id go with a hatch or a late model Integra. In the land of ricerville, parts are mad cheap and they are everywhere. And the K20A2 is the best thing Hondas got going for em.
So if this is the learning to build project car I think a Honda's the best way to go for all-round performance/learning for the money. But damn what I would do to Miata... saw some pics of an RB26 in one of those...
