By that teaser pic, my first impression is what a shoddy paint job mazda cars have.

I wonder why? Maybe 5000 people kept telling him he was going to be ripped off. Actually, it was because the dealership wanted to get some free money.

Actually it's because no dealer will import the evo 7... too much liability issues for the dealer. If they claim they'll do it they will probably mark up the price $10,000 and give u an evo 8 with the evo 7 badging.

Kareem, listen and learn. Actually its because the dealership wanted to charge me well over $2,000 which was way to much! And the dealership wasnt importing it, Evolution Imports was. And all that aside, I wasnt comfortable knowing that I would have to insure it as a grey market vehicle and the fact that it was completely disassembled in the Bahamas and then reassembled here in the U.S...

And in regards to the Evo VII badge on the Evo VIII....only a ****tard wouldn't know the difference...

good choice on the Mazdaspeed......we've got a 2003 in the spicy orange color as well.....it's a FANTASTIC little car and my wife loves it to death. We bought ours new when they first came out and the only things we've had go wrong so far were the rear suspension "clunk" and "the squeak" which were all problems with suspension bushings that the dealer fixed easily. Oh, and the ECU flash which is a must for the "hesitation". There are only something like 250 of the spicy orange ones that made it to U.S. shores so it's quite a rare car......which is the reason my wife won't let hers go. I've even offered to buy her a lightly used EVO or S2K to replace it and she refuses. I've gotta admit it's so much fun to drive with that suspension....you can just toss that little car wherever you want and it will go there.

BTW regarding the "Ford" comment, the only thing from Ford in this car is the ECU.....consequently also the thing that most people complain about on the car for the hesitation that prompted a TSB and the subsequent ECU flash.

If I might ask, how much did you pay for yours? Just curious because most of the blue book sites don't have the MSP values, just the regular Protege so I'm wondering what kinda market is out there for this car just in case I get the wife to ditch hers once the warranty expires.

Yeah I paid $17,200 after tax, title, reg. It had 11,300 miles on it and I found it out of long island. Its number 1298 of 1750 MSP (2003) made. I love the thing! I hope the rain holds off this saturday cause Ill be at the track to see what she runs. Im shooting for the 14's...
