When the NSX came out it was neither overpriced nor underpowered. The '90 models were around $62k with 270 HP and about 11.1 lbs/hp. The '91 911 was $65k, had 247 HP and around 12.2 lbs/hp. The '92 Ferrari 348 was $115k, had 300 HP and around 10.7 lbs/hp. Those rival cars - 911, Ferrari 348, etc - all were refreshed and gained significant power over the NSX's life, and right now it's not a very good value on paper. Honda refused to play the horsepower game and keep up with their rivals.

Driving one is completely different; the NSX is built extremely well and is a true everyday supercar. They are reliable, comfortable for extended trips, and truly a great car to this day.

I hope the new one retains the old NSX's concept of a lightweight supercar for every day.

And, for the record... the 'underpowered' NSX still carries 1 lb/hp less than the Evo.

Perhaps when it first came out it was less overpriced and underpowered, but as the years progressed, the price kept rising without a similar increase in performance. I think Honda got a little overzealous with it. I do agree that it is a very good looking car and can perform well. However, I stand by my statement that it is not worth 75K+. Just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

NSX are great cars IMO.
It may not be the fastest car around, but you can't beat its looks and reliability. And there's always the Comptech supercharger.

No argument. I'd snag a used '97 or '98 before I bought a new one, as the new price premium doesn't offer any advantage.

My point was that when it came out it was a supercar for less than supercar price. I'd be willing to bet the next NSX will be the same - F430/Murcielago performance for $100,000 anyone?

I just recently picked up my 99. The driving experience is awesome. Incredible view and the targa top are great. The sounds it makes are beautiful - I've got an exhaust and intake for it so it sounds even better than stock. It sounds similar to 355 and 360 Ferrari's I've ridden in (not quite as good though ) The car is faster than I thought it would be also. The magazines have the 3.2 cars at around 13.2 at 106-107mph. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, basically the same or close to a C5 Vette, a F355, etc.
Anyway, that's my 2cents.

It is sometimes torture waiting for these cars to come down in value enough that I can afford them. I hope this new NSX that is coming out is going to be worth the long wait.

I spend some time there. Unfortunately there is nowhere near as many posts on the NSXprime website as there are on Evom, so I can get through all the new posts there in about 2 minutes. Something that makes having a rare car cool is also a downside. Around here the Evo is pretty rare itself.
