Question

-

Maybe if the stripes were silver on a red car... why does it have to be blue on white anyway?

It's a Shelby thing... even tho he had nothing to do with the SRT-4, his Dodge legacy lives on.

I was considering a Neon SRT-4 last month. The car had two things going for it, the price and the horsepower. After the deals fell through on two used Srt-4's, we started considering a brand new Srt-4. But before we started the final paperwork my wife suggested we might as well look into a new WRX. Which surprised me, but i was up for it. So now we have a 05 WRX. And i could not be happier. But either way i would have been happy to have either one over my stock OZ. So when my wife asked which one i would rather have, i went with the car i originally wanted before the OZ, the WRX. The only reason i got the OZ was because i thought i could maybe stuff a 4g63 under the hood. Or mod it to a respectable amount of power. But neither one happened so i got tired of driving the lancer last month. Anoter reason reason i considered the Dodge was the Mopar upgrades, but after further investigation i found out the Mopar upgrades are not covered by the warranty. On their Mopar web site it says not legall for road use. But anyway, 227 and 230 horses are better than 120!

BTW: Have you seen the new model??? I think it's ugly as hell! It's a chance you got a 2005 model year... IMO, you bought yours just in time. I thought the WRX would be my next car, but there's no way I'm buying something so ugly... so maybe I'll buy one used in a couple of years if I can get a sweet deal.

Yeah, ive seen the o6 Workz. I dont like how it looks either, but i wonder if its something a aftermarket front end cant fix. Or a aftermarket grill insert. Hopefully the STI will look better when i am car shopping in the future, or the Evo MR may look better.

Shelby was with Ford in the sixties... Cobra, Mustangs... then ended business with Ford in 1970... he went to Dodge in the '80s's... buffed up a bunch of cars like the Charger, the Rampage, ect ect... hung around until the early 90's... he had alot to do with the Viper... in the '90's he designed his Shelby Series 1 concept cars... this year he just signed a new deal with Ford... has a couple concepts (a retro looking Cobra and a supercar Shelby based off of the Ford GT) out plus new Shelby Mustangs due in 2007.

I think 10 or 15 years of the Dodge SRT team...

Aww congrats man! I love that car. What I did't like was the mad insurance that I had to pay for it lol. Otherwise I'd be WRXing it up right about now. The RA is a good car though and I am definitely happy with it.

While the SRT-4 is based on the long-running Neon, and it has a certain Neon styling similarity, Dodge doesn't officially include the word "Neon" in the name of the SRT-4. Officials prefer to stress its origins with Chrysler's Street and Racing Technology team.

Yeeeeeah, uh, ok, well maybe they should try less to associate it with the horrible quality issues that all Neon’s from the past are known for. My friend had that car for 10 months till he got rid of it. And he ran into all kind of quality issues and don’t even try to say he just got a lemon, because other people he talked to at the dealership were running into the same problems!!!

1. Clutch Problems
2. Interior Build Issues (Glove Box refusing to stay shut)
3. The idle in or out of gear revs up and down by itself, while driving the idle is
changing by itself, and at red lights or stop signs the engine cuts off.

What bothered me the most is how the SRT-4's muffler is far too loud for normal driving. I'm not an old man or anything but what the **** is that pop, pop, pop, noise?!!!

And while the SRT-4 comes with such things like a CD player, rear defroster, air, tach, and power mirrors, locks, and windows, only the front windows are powered the back windows have cranks!!! Jesus! Dodge couldn’t spring the extra bucks to put power windows in the back!!!

I'll be the first to admit the performance value of the srt-4 is phenomenal, but that's all it has going for it. Better quality materials can be found with almost all its competitors. At the end of the day you're still driving home in a Neon. Not because its similar to an old Neon in terms of looks but because it acts just like an old neon in terms of quality!!!! But if you enjoy it, more power to you. Far be it for me to suggest you have a crap car if you like it.
