i have some questions =D
i have some questions =D
i have some, they are some noob questions lol
1. Is it bad to take a small 4-cylinder engine on really long road trips? is it better to take a 8-cylinder such as a crown victoria on long road trips???
2. Is it bad to turbo charge a N.A engine? i've heard from many tuners that work at shops say that it is bad and that if you really want power a supercharger is much better for the engine.
3. My last question is, when i shift my moms automatic nissan sentra, the button you hold to shift is really stiff. its hard to press and sometimes it stick. Most of the time its half way in. Whats wrong with that?
thanks guys!!

2. turbo charging a n/a engine is not always bad but it is risky and harder. the engine internals of most N/A engines are not strong enough to handle the stress from forced induction. things like compression ration makes it even harder. a super charger is better most of the time because it used a set amount of psi (most of the time is very low like 6-7psi) which means that it doesn't put as much stress on the engine.
3. you will need to take it apart and check it. it might be stuck because it is dirty or something is broken.
1. The only "bad" thing i can think of is the 8 cyl will most likely eat more gas.
2. It's not "bad" to turbo/supercharge an NA. It is however, in MOST cases, more cost effective to just save up and buy a car that came boosted from the factory. As far as supercharges being more powerful than turbos... Wrong. Some people prefer one over the other and some cars are made to fit one type better, but the power is the same depending on size, craftsman ship, etc.
3. Sounds like the button on the shifter is just old/dirty. You could find a whole new shifter knob for super cheap i'm sure.

#2. I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure on a turbo charged vehicle the compression is lowered to allow for the extra stress from the foced induction. N/A vehicles have higher compression. Personally, I would just purchase a forced induction vehicle to skip the hassle of tinkering with a N/A vehicle.
