ok i have a few questions if anyone can help...i want to put in a vr4 but i want to try to keep it automatic is the gs-x tranny and the vr-4 the same one if not is there anyway to keep it an automatic or if i have to convert to manual is there a way to keep it fron wheel any help would be nice thanks

I assume you have an older gen Galant? You want to know if you can put the VR4 engine without going AWD? Trying to see if the Eclipse GS-T (FWD, GSX is AWD) tranny might work with the engine? Please make it a little bit clearer for us to point you to the right direction.

What year is your galant?

 

First the gsx and vr4 galants are both AWD the vr4 is turbocharged and AWS, the gearing is differnet in the transmissions between the two but if you keep it AWD and want an auto use a eclipse gsx auto trans, but make sure you use a rear from an auto car, the manual cars have a differnet gearing in the back, if you want a FWD auto use a eclilpse GST auto, make sure with the autos you get the TCU and all related componets, also the vr4 was only a 5 speed car, the gsx model I believe came in auto but not sure entirely.
