91 GSX auto, or 90 TSI AWD 5spd

Wife really don't want me throwin a turbo in the lancer. She hates when I'm out there f'n w/ the car heh its always Why you always messin w/ the car its brandnew, blah blah.
I'd much rather just screw with the lancer but it is also my only means of transportation atm so if it goes boom, then I'd be screwed.

So I looked around and found 2 cars I could get into both about $2000
1: 1991 Eclipse GSX automatic white w/ badly faded paint.
2: 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 5spd Red and paint in pretty good shape.
Both owners say "runs but needs work" who knows what kinda problems that entails but I will find out soon.
This would be my weekend toy, prolly see the track and autoXs often.
Guess the only diffrence would be color, tranny and year... cause they the same car basicly right?
Miss driving manuals but its been a while, I'd prolly be buyin new clutch a few months after I got the car. Can't beat an auto in traffic tho heh.
What yall think?

I currently own both of those types. I enjoy driving both of them. If you are doing any type of drag racing i would choose the standard over the auto even though both tranny's will probably need some type of work done for starters if you plan on putting out some power. I like the auto because i don't have to shift and the no loss in boost between shifts. It also has a power/economy mode to help save on gas while driving which is a nice feature imo. Good luck man and find out what needs to be done to the cars to get them up and in good running order before you pay for them.

Especially if you're going to do autox or trackdays don't even consider the AT.

Went and looked at the TSI today, body is in amazing shape.

It starts runs fine but, the guy said the tranny is stuck in gear and the clutch is pretty soft.
I dont know much bout trannys what could cause this? bent linkage? broke clutch cable?
How much would it cost to rebuild and or replace the tranny all together.

I'd love to have the car I just dont wana spend a fortune on fixing it to get it to run.
Would this be a good deal, I could prolly talk the guy down to 1500-1700ish.

Its pretty much the only DSM in my area in a 100MI radius heh.

I dont feel confortable ordering a car from to far away and having it shipped to me. Cause I'd have no idea what condition it was actualy in.
