installing an amp to stock cd player. Help
Well, I am trying to install an amp to a 99 jeep grand cherokee. The thing is I really don't want to use to much money in doing so, I all ready have and amp, 4 gauge power wire set. rc cabels and all.
The problem is not that i don't know what or how to put it in, it is that i don't have an aftermarket cd player. I wont to try to use the stock one. but the stock I know doesn't have the rc ( red and white ) plug-ins.
what do i need to get to make it work. or would it be about the same amont of money just getting another cd player?
thanks
James

Ok, If you DO NOT have infinity sound in your jeep, then you need run speaker wires from the rear speaker wires behind the radio to the high level inputs. Unfortunately, I do not remember what colors are for what speakers in that vehicle. When running the wires, I would also run the rca wires just in case you do have to swap out the head unit for an aftermarket one in the future. If you have the infinity setup, the facatory amp should be under the rear seat. I definately cant tell which wires are for what speakers unless i test them. But hopefully you dont have the infinity stereo. If you dont, go to walmart and pick up a dodge/jeep harness for your jeep. They are cheap. You should use that as a guide to tap into the rear speaker wires behind your radio. If any of this is unclear, PM me and i'll try to explain it better.
Oh yeah, if you have a power antenna wire, you gotta connect the remote wire to that. If not, connect is the the accessory wire. Beware with the second method because sometimes you can create a feedback loop if you turn off your radio without turning off the ignition. Again, if you purchace that cheap harness, it'll save you time.
