What do you guys think would fit the bill as far as brand new cars that have already been released or will most likely be released for 2007? A reliable car that can be driven aggressively without worry of it crapping out, nice build materials, fairly practical, good power (14 sec 1/4 or less), AWD or RWD preffered however FWD for the right car could be a possability, a car that won't get smacked down by depreciation, handles well and is attractive. Oh yeah, can't be more than $30,000 new, a stripped model for less would be possible as well. I just really like the idea of having something no one has driven before me, it isn't really YOUR car if someone could have possibly hammered on it before hand, even though that isn't the case with all used cars it just can be nice to have shiny new/warrantee and a car all your own. What do you think?
If it were to be something like that I'd just buy an EVO, the Mazdaspeed6 I'm sure is just as capable of being broken as an EVO, too bad a 3 Series coupe wasn't $30k or less. Also some decent modablity would be nice, nothing like that lose 2HP with $1500 in bolt ons like the 350z crap

Mazdaspeed 6 has some issues with the intercooler and power loss. Otherwise a decent car.
I think about the only car that fits your bill is the WRX, unless you're open to FF cars, in which case there are a bunch. Though it also depends on what you consider practical.

Yup mazda has been working on a fix for these cars. The power appears to cut off after a certain rpm(forget around where). rumours say the intercooler is too close or something? Read that somewhere.Originally Posted by WestSideBilly

SE-R is OFTEN compared to a lancer Ralliart. It's no where near the specs that sp00led posted.
sp00led, what your asking for is a pretty hard find. You're asking for a car that isnt jeopardized in the rain, yet most RWD cars with DECENT POWER is a tail-happy-mobile. Why not consider an Evo? Or the WRX as WSB suggested. Also, just a reminder, what you pay is what you get, dont expect a NICE BUILT MATERIAL car, with the 14 and a 1/4 second range, RAIN safe under the 30k mark. When you do find something like that let us know lol.

How about a Subaru Legacy GT? More room than a WRX, excellent resale, and it beat out the MS6 in Road & Track's review of AWD sedans:

Okay, I know it was the Spec.C variant they tested, but the GT should be close.

Your gonna wish you bought a barely used car right after you get the new one. Wish I would've bought a used car, could've spent way less for the same car, or the same price for a way nicer car. Although knowing no one jammed on it before me is nice, but it doesn't outweigh the price difference IMO
