New Camaro/Mustang

I was reading the new Motor Trend today and they stated that if GM were to bring back the Camaro it would be aimed at Mustang production numbers 115,000-130,000 per year with a base model around $20,000 with a 3.9L V6, the same motor as in the Malibu Maxx SS producing 240hp, with a V8 z28 aimed at a sub $30,000 price tag. In all actuallity though they stated that the new Camaro would NOT be outfitting the LS2 motor as seen in the Corvette/GTO but a new LS7 making 402hp I believe and there will be a ZL1 Camaro with the same powerplant as the z06 Corvette reaching high $40,000 mark. The mustang will not remain at the 305hp mark but be improved to a 389hp powerplant as seen in the Boss 290 in austrailia... So here it goes.

New Mustang:

V6 210hp

V8 Boss 330 w/389HP

V8 SC Shelby GT500/475hp

New Camaro

V6 240hp

V8 Z28/402hp

V8 ZL1/505hp

Ok, I'm done

Let the horsepower wars begin! Or has it already begun? Nowadays, anything that has less than 200 is considered week (except for a few exceptions *cough* elise) while 5 years back or make that 10 years, 170hp in an integra and 190hp in a vtec prelude was considered the shiznit and having 300-400hp was considered super car territory. My how what a difference 10 years make.

Yep, sooner than latter the car companies are going to run out of horsepower numbers to throw at the consumers.

500hp cars are out now, and more with 400hp.

You cant keep throwing 50 hp here 100 hp there,,,, They will be in the 600 hp area soon.

And a 600hp car wont get Shiet for mpg.

This is the last big step in horsepower wars , before electric take over.
