this is seriously the dumbest thing i've read in a while. i definitely believe that driving skill plays a big role in racing but i think a blind retard driving a stock wrx could spank a modded lancer oz.... just my opinion. "cops license life" ?????

i was just messin, don't take me too seriously.... i've been in many pointless races in my OZ, so i know where your coming from. sometimes its just fun to see how bad i'll lose the race. atleast you got to see a STI in person, out here in PA we probably won't see one for 6 months

the only reason i was making fun is because of the way you worded it, it sounded as if you were surprised that you got beat by 3 WRXs and a 300 hp STI..... maybe if you learned to speak and write in english you could get your point across a little more clearly.

no no no .... it took a drive home to calm me down ...
i'm sorry guys... today was a baddddddddddddddddd day

after the *** kicking...
i felt like **** especially seeing the same exact guy driving by every 20 mins in front of me... (my store has a huge glass window facing harbor)
02lancer i think you kinda get what i was tryign to say...
in no way was i expecting to beat that sti .. but i FELT like i'd rather die wining than losing to another scooobie... sti or not. .....
IT IS THE STUPIDEST THING I EVER THOUGHT!
now that i thought about it... i could have been pulled over and reemed just for trying to prove a point to myself...
someone earlier last week wrote a thread on how he lost his liscence "testing spark plugs". guess i should take my own advice and READ !

do i need to make another thread to address whats brothering me. which is :
Am i the only one that feels like 3rd gear is slowwww/ doesn't pull as well?? grrrrrrrrr my explanations suck.
(takes long to get to 4th than 4th to 5th) i shift at 5K usually on all gears racing idiots in wrx or whateva.

i figure since there is no real restart button on the threads and a mod has yet to delete this (coffee break maybe )

i actually don't think third gear is tooo bad, its pretty nice on a highway entrance ramp. i just have to keep reminding myself i only have 120 hp..... fourth gear is definitely the loooongest gear in my mind. i could read a book in the time it takes to wind out fourth and when i'm racing i take every gear to about 6300 rpm, sometimes 6000 rpm if i get bored waiting for 4th gear to wind out

so would you suggest that i strectch out 2nd to about a lil past redline?? so i'm scared of the redline lol ( i thought i'd die slaming 3 rd in the earlier fiesco) i think 4th i don't feel the pull as much but i think it climbs the rpm scale faster i dunno...

... ok i thought about it a little and to put this to rest i think the reason i hate 3rd is that ... follow this logic here ......
i usually launch pretty damn well and climb through to 2nd quickly. i believe the launch (and available torque of lancer) in the earlier gears helps me hop out ahead. Just a little more, to half a car length. However by the time i get into 3rd most cars i've raced pull on me and catch up. That is probably due to the fact that their available torque is more at 3rd gear than available on the lancer at 1 -2 ??? So, it's because of seeing them catching up i FEEL like 3rd is taking forever.

EDIT: or i could be completely wrong ? either way would a MOD please this thread to bits allready ......... i'll give you mucho 's

i'm not saying that shifting about 100 - 200 rpm before the rev limiter is the best approach, but if your shifting from 2nd to 3rd around 5k, your going to be that much lower in rpms in 3rd gear. 2nd gear at 6300 rpm @ about 62 mph is better than 2nd gear at 5000 rpm @ 50-51 mph. all of our hp is higher in the rpm curve, so why shift before using it....... anyway thats why 3rd seems long to you, your starting out in 3rd gear at a much lower rpm with less hp. just try shifting at different rpms until you find the right spot for you and your car.... every one and every car are a little different. good luck and have fun practicing.

i've put 27k miles of hard driving on my lancer and its just as quick and runs just as well as when i bought it with only 4 miles on the clock, and i run my car to the redline several times a day.

The red line is nothing to really be worried about, it simply means that you can't get any more power out of your engine after that point. Try not to push your lancer too hard without modding internals, too much heat causes pitting in the pistons and leads to eventual failure in the future, I'm not saying immediately, but over time. That's my input if I'm wrong someone will most likely correct me then flame me. Oh well have fun anyways.

Nakedelf (nice name by the way), i agree with you that my car will eventually have problems because of the way i drive. i just hope that it happens before 36,000 miles roll onto the odometer damaged parts is something i expect and accept, if someone doesn't, then i would suggest they take up sunday driving.

i believe you beat a prelude, but i seriously doubt you beat a REAL M3 that was actually trying to race you, i'm sure it was just a 3 series sporting M3 badges and respective body kit, wheels, etc.... there are so many wanna be cars out there (i can't tell you how many honda civic EX's i've seen with SiR badges that are still sporting 14" steel wheels with hub caps, stupidest **** i've ever seen)
