First of all, motor codes. Nissan's motor codes are beyond easy to figure out. You guys could've figured out that yes, the SR20VET is turbocharged and also that the V probably had something to do with the cams (as evo_dan theorized).
SR is the motor family ... 20 is the displacement (2.0 litres). The next letter is the cam setup, for and SR20DET, the "D" is for DOHC. If it was SOHC, like in the VG30E or KA24E, the letter would be omitted. The "E" is for EFI. And if there's a "T" it's turbo, "TT" it's twin turbo (as in the VG30DETT -- 300ZX TT or RB26DETT).
So there's a "V" in place of the "D" ... indicating a new cam setup. It's variable valve timing, Nissan's version VTEC. The X-TRAIL SR20VET is the first factory turbo variable valve timing motor.
Oh and also ... low torque numbers are usually a very strong indicator of turbocharging.
