Please help me out on this one...

okay so on my way home tonight I pull into the gas station to fill up...while I'm pumping a new Subi Legacy GT comes rolling in with a sweet sounding exhaust...the guy was only there for a second to talk to his friend who looked like he worked at the station. From what I could see/hear all he had done was exhaust, boost gauge, and bov. Didn't get a chance to talk to him but after he left his friend was telling me how "f***ing sweet" that car was... "he's pushing 22psi with a 3 inch "dump pipe"...I was like cool..he asked me about my car and I said it was stock and could do high 12s in the 1/4..he was like that car would smoke you in the 1/4..."it runs 9s"...at this point I had to know more so I asked what he had done...the guy says that he was running "stage 6 turboS" with a built engine..anyways I just said cool cause I didnt wanna start anything...so does anybody know of a stock looking Subi legacy gt in CT that runs 9s with a "stage 6" turbo??? (this was in Simsbury btw)

Laughable. The highest horsepower LGT that I know of is mid 400's. The quickest quarter time from anyone on Legacygt.com (the pre-eminent LGT site) is in the 12's. Farmer John (screen name) who I think used to own an evo is doing a pretty sick rotated GT35R kit with all the supporting mods and may push 500 WHP. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34991
Still probably wouldn't be much better than a low 11 sec. car. The JDM legacies came with a twin turbo set up and I have seen the conversion done on usdm cars but it still doesn't translate into a monsterous 1/4 mile car. Long and short of it, the guy you were talking to was a douchebag. My car is the 2.5 turbo with a GT spec header/uppipe, perrin pulley and cobb accessport, blitz drop-in filter. Probably won't dyno much over 240 to the wheels. Did you notice if the car had a FMIC?

There is a 2005 LGT around my area that looks bone stock. It's blue, but lowered. Anyone around here has probably seen it, and not thought twice about it.

Anyway, I sort of ran him one night and got my *** handed to me. I asked him what he had done to it, and while he would offer some information, he wouldn't offer all. He said he was running a Stage 2 ECU setup, which I suspect was a Cobb product, exhaust, intake, and some other bolt-ons. He said that he had a turbo upgrade in the works.

Right now the only mod(s) I have are a K&N drop-in filter and a Cobb AccessPORT Stage 1 ECU tune. Most STis/STIs with the Stage 1 are running between a 13.1-13.30 and trapping at around 105-106 mph. I "ran" him from a slow roll (I was behind him) and pulled up on him in 1st and 2nd gear, but after that, it was curtains. Anyone familiar with an STi/STI knows that their midrange is where they make their meat, so I was running full-steam ahead. At this point he was probably in 3rd gear, as he had one of those "tiptronic" auto trannies, and he pulled on me good. I just let off the gas after he had pulled me by about 1.5 cars and kept pulling. This car is easiliy a 12.80 car.

While I surely believe that the guy at the gas station was full of sh*t about this car running 9s, LGTs are not to be taken lightly. They can be modified to be pretty quick, the same as an STi/STI. They only weigh about 3350-3400 lbs, despite looking heavier. That's only about 75-100 lbs heavier than the STi/STI. There are some seriously quick LGTs out there.

I know him. His name is Danny, good guy. I know he has done header, up-pipe, pulley, downpipe (I think) and cobb accessport. Not sure what else. I drove his car at a subie meet @ ballenger creek park one day. It is definitely quick. I have all the same mods except downpipe. I am also running the 5EAT (tiptronic). Definitely torquey and will sneak up on people.

Yep, Dan. Good guy. The best (or worst, depending how you look at it) part about it, is that it even has a babyseat in the back. That car has some serious torque.

Yeah, the tiptronic are definitely torquey from a roll. There are lots of guys dragging them and pulling 1.7-1.9 60 fts. depending on mods.
