Guess what I did this morning?

I went and participated in BMW's Driven to Find a Cure for breast cancer.

BMW donates a dollar for every mile we drive. I tested out the 540i sport wagon, 745li sedan and two Z4s, a 3.0L auto and 2.5L stick.

How do I feel about the Z4 stick?

And the 540i? I'll let my rubber patches speak for themselves...

If you go in off-hour, you'll be able to pick something up...I did a whip-round in 10 or 15 minutes and came back for the next car almost immediately.

Also, get there EARLY. It starts at 10, get there 9:30ish and put your name on the waiting lists...you'll be glad you did.

And try the 540i without traction control. Whoo.

edit: off-hour meaning "not on the hour" since that's when appointments start.

Did you try backing up that Z4? Not very comfortable. Then again, who the hell drives Bimmers backwards?

I hear you...........I'm only about 20-30 minutes away from reading, but I have to take 222 all the way out and it gets boring after a while cause that's all in Amish country

It's not just a test drive though. They give you a route, mine was 13.3 miles around the Black Horse Pike and the AC Expressway.

After you get back you can switch off to anything that's still there. I took care of all of my driving in the morning even though I had an appointment for the 540i in the afternoon. Made like a little easier.

When you can drive as many awesome cars as the Ultimate Drive in the same span of time...it's worth it.

That'd be the hood of the 745 on my last circuit of the route. I made sure to stop for a short time to let the codriver snap a shot.
