When was the last timne you read a car magazine?, the new passat with the 3.6l trapps 102-103 on the 1/4 mile and does low 14 to high 13. That ain't slow for a car that size.

I'd rather have the G35. But it would be a close race.

Why does this have to be a "matter of opinion"? Race two of them and get the facts. One will be faster, even if only by fractions of a second.

I would take the G coupe just for the simple fact that it looks better

Passat reminds me of soccer for some reason

define "slow".

The new Passat 3.6 V6 kicks ***, and the 2 liter TFSi is a pretty decent performer.

G35 hands down. Not just looking at engine output, look at what the cars where developed as. The G35 is a luxury sports coupe/sedan. The passat is a family car (no coupe available). A drag race may end pretty even, but as soon as these cars go into the twisties, you would think that the cushier veedub suspension would have trouble. I haven't really researched the new Passat's suspension, but Volkswagens in general seem to have the cushiest factory suspensions.

G35's arent that fast in there stock form (still a great car), But the Passat are pretty quick considering the size of the car. I raced one in my old car (94 Accord h22 250hp) and i pulled it at around 130mph barely.
