Is it just a dream?

So my Lancer is leaving me, and I just got an Acura as a replacement and for fun...but recently a deal has come my way which is almost too good to pass up.

I'll keep it short since I don't have pics or any mechanics info to go on, but basically it's a 1995 Mitsubishi eclipse GS coupe (Automatic) that needs work. (Tranny is in "lip" mode, some body damage, a new paint job and possibly some break work.)

The car has about ~125,000k on it, but if I'm going to replace the tranny, i'm considering replacing the engine as well.

Price is $700 straight up.

Is it worth getting this car and trying to fix it up to make it reasonably fast. The Acura would be my DD for a while, this would be purely a project car.

I know it needs alot of expensive work done, but am I ever going to find a 95 eclipse for ~1k anywhere else?

My real question is, is it going to be a money pit and never really worth spending on?

parts are fairly cheap I'd offer 600 cash.
It would deffinately be a good project but only if you swap the engine and trans which isn't all that hard compared to other engine swaps. I say go for it

Dude, take this advice. Run as far away from that car as you can, putting a turbo 4g63 eclipse motor in that car is harder then putting an evo motor in it. You need to weld a mount to chassis and do a ton of modifications. I know 700$ seems like a good deal, but non turbo 2g eclipses are the biggest POS's in the world. its a 420z neon motor and definitely not worth doing anything to. Its gonna be thousands upon thousands to get it running right and once ur done you coulda just bought a stock turbo 95 eclipse fwd. If you listen to no other strangers in your life, listen to me and avoid buying that car!!!
