The 06 STis (and I'm assuming the 07s) definitely shift more smoothly than the Evo IX. That's one of the few things that I missed while I was still getting used to the IX

bro, let me give you some history on my girl

her first car ever was a 97 gst 5 spd she bought stock. She then did TBE, intake, rc 550's, fuel pump, 16g, safc and h&r springs

DIAMOND STAR in the rough

next car was a 98 tsi awd 5 spd also bought stock. When she was done it had a built 6 bolt with wisecos/eagles, evo 3 16g, springs/retainers/valves, 550's, fuel pump, dsmlink, eibachs, tokicos 19" wheels, eclipse front end, spearco fmic with short route piping, etc...

Then she had this car, 2005 5 spd white is300 that remained stock for the 10 months she had it

Then she had this 2006 g35x, first auto car she ever had, this also stayed stock for the 12 months she had it but she hated not being in a manual car

after all these pics i guess I gotta post a pic of her, here she is on the right

As you can see, my gf likes to have nice cars, she's 23 and doesnt want to be driving an accord or camry. She just graduated college and got a job as a junior accountant. Shes taking her CPA exam soon and will have it after 2 yrs experience. She works for everything she owns and deserves the world in my eyes. She wanted something fast, fun to drive and reliable. She really wanted an IS350 but they're automatic and too expensive

Hehe, my gf has a black 06...she's fuming that they upgraded the turbo, heads, gearing etc for 07...

I'm surprised you commented on the handling, cause I think stock for stock the STI is too vague, that slower steering rack kills me. I love the low down torque, I thought the mivec evo's made power down low but this thing feels like a na v6 down compared to my evo, but the trade off is felt upstairs.

get over your evo hype..... thats the ONE thing that no1 evvvvver argues about lol the sti shifting better than the evo.. its a possibilty that the car was beaten up.. but the sti i drove shifted as nice as bmw.

cheers!

Mine shifts better than any Evo I've ever driven. Maybe some people make statements without actually driving a car. It certainly happens a lot.
