Test drove the 2004 WRX
I went to the Scooby dealership (Gillman, if you want to know) to see the EVO and the 04 WRX. Yeah the Mitsu and Scooby dealership are located next to each other under one main name, kind of ironic.
I was in the Mitsu one first asking for a catalog for the EVO, but they're all gone
and I wonder if they have a Blue one so that I can take a very good look. The sales told me, "They don't make blue one"...I was like, "WTF
" and I told him I'm very very confident that there are blue EVOs out there. They have one red one and a yellow one sitting in the showroom and they're charging $2,000 over MSRP. I didn't even bother to ask for a test drive since I know I won't get one given the attitude of the salesperson.
Then I walked to the next building to see the new 04 WRX. It looks very nice in person. I told the sales (Tristian, he's a cool dude) that I am NOT going to buy a 04 WRX and I'm interested in the Sti...he gave me a test drive for the 04 WRX anyway to chat for a little more.
From outside, I like the new design for the front end AND the hood scope (yeah, call me whatever you want
). Interior wise, the tach moved to the middle, nicer seats, built-in roll cage with the moon-roof option. Nice and tight.
I asked him whether they re-worked the suspension system for the 04 since the Sti received such treatment to eliminate the nose heavy, understeer charateristic. He said he was not sure.
We pulled into a vacant parking lot (Auchan's grocery) and he said I can do whatever I want...
cool. I have to say I'm not a hardcore driver at all. I dropped the clutch at arround 4K...not very smooth, I got so used to my TT....I made some tight turns and the tires hold their own ground pretty well. I was impressed
In gerenal, this 04 model score higher in my book as compared to the 02 model. It tends to turn quicker and with less understeer. I'm not sure if they've worked on the suspension or anything...just "feel" better. It feels faster than my own car since it's a lighter car and I rarely push my car too far...
I'm very pleased with the experience I had with the 04 WRX and he just called me that the Sti is in the dealership now. I will make a trip to the dealership again and hopefully, the car is not taken yet.

Was that Gillman North? Mitsu side is pretty well a waste of your time. Stereotypical car salesman stuff. Good to here about the new WRX. I think I might run over there and test drive one for the hell of it. Who knows in a couple of years may trade in the wife's O-Z for something like that. Be nice to win el lotto and get an STi instead but, not gonna happen. I will just go ahead and enjoy my Evo. Would be pretty tough to trade the O-Z for an STi as it might give me an inferiority complex if by some freak occurence my wife beat me at autocross (i.e. the car was a better performer.)
P.S. I have a TT too. I am getting some POTENZAS put on sometime, whenevrer they get them in from the distribution center in INdiania. I am getting 235/45/17 S03's to try to correct the weird handeling, as well as the terrible wet traction I am having. Just wanted to say what's up.

[Lan Evo EDIT] Accidentially deleted some content that MeanTT posted, BIG SORRY here.
He was saying that the North Gillman was cool for giving him a test drive for the EVO.
