I'd go 240SX here. If you go AWD, might as well get an evo, FWD is dominated by hondas in my mind but those are always criticized, and a FWD car can't always be good at drag/road course racing. I would go ITR or Si of an older generation if Honda.
RWD: I'd get FD RX-7 except that has NO reliability. You can actually find those right around 12k now.
Also, maybe an old old supra? The MkIV's are hot **** and everybody knows it (plus they're expensive), so an older one would be a good sleeper.
