I have a feeling that the next M3 is going to absolutely FLY!!! That is a weak Tq number though. Must be naturally aspirated.

all "M: motors are very low on torque, it is very light!

they are high speed motors wich= short stroke wich= low torque

Matyb,

Nothing that you haven't personally heard from me already in other post and forums, the car looks killer but the torque is questionable.

Even the ugly mid 80 302 cu mustangs were making 300lbtq out of a pushrod 2 valve per cylinder prehistoric injection system 20 years ago.

I would expect much much more torque out of a 4.0 liter german modern V8. Other than that we would have to see how this car performs, so far is all show, we need to see how it will perform.

It has Bi vanos, 4 valves per cylinder, aluminium block, superinnovative injection system(direct injection and perhaps common rail), high compression ratio, light valvestrain and a bad a$$ head, you know what I mean, this car should be making well above 350lb/tq to void negative comments from people like me

Carlos

the new m3 will be running a new v8 based off the old m5 v8 so number are going to be almost the same that tq rating is to low it in the 300s

You have cars like late 80 Jaguars 4.0liter 6 cylinders or late 80 Audis with their 4.2 lV8 which no of them were really oriented to be "true sports car" and still manage 295lb/tq.

When you compare my analogy you would understand why I strongly believe BMW left a hugeeee gap a a big question mark on that engien capability to make torque.

AUDI RS4 motor specs verbatim?

German HP wars are so gay sometimes, if your going to bump it up 90hp free up another lil bit to make it a bit different. I wonder whats quicker to 60? To 100?

Oh yeah Matyb, please do not feel by any means offended, I am just throwing my concerns, off course there is nothing personal, like you said earlier, you are just providfing the info so we are cool on that.

You guys are silly btw.

Of course a 20 year old engine will make more tq while the new ones make more hp and less tq because they make a lot more peak power and have much more refined valvetrain.

Where did you get that from? The new V8 is based on the new V10 found in the new M5/M6.

torque is not BMW's concern, torque gets you moving from a stop, the only time your stopped in a car of this sort (short stroke) is for pit stops

eg. f1, nascar, so on and so forth that is why they have gotta smoke em outa the pit box because they do not have the torque to get them moving at low engine speeds. once there wound up there whole different animals

its pretty simple! its a trade off and in all honesty if you think about it those torque numbers are not that bad at ALL!
