Buddy is thinking about Buying 2002 M3
There is no 100k warranty. All M3's come with a 100k ENGINE warranty. That doesnt cover maintenance or other repairs. Inspection I and II are pricey, but independent shops can do them for alot less than $1500. That's a pretty good price, and ok mileage. I'd check the history for the rod bearing recall.
My friend Brad is thinking about buying a used 2002 M3. It has about 50,000 miles. Its Laguna Seca Blue and going for about 27k. I keep telling him to buy it, but I figured ID ask some of you for an unbiased opinion...cause everyone on the bimmerforums of course will say to buy it lol
I think its from a dealership..Ill have to ask him.
.I test drove a convertible and didn't really like it much. I heard the coupe is a different beast though. As long as your buddy is happy with it and can afford it, i think it's a great price.
Reason why they are so expensive is because they have solid lifters and to do maintenance on solid lifters you need special tools that are made by bmw (shims and such).
Four years/50k miles, that's as far as the free service goes, and since it is an '02 the four years has already been exceeded.
I was going to say, I don't like how the M3's engine sounds (very metallic, wierd sound) and who would want to listen to that....but I remember I got an evo and the ****ing thing is loud and annoying as hell...so I'm pretty much making fun of myself :/

otherwise, it is an expenive car to fix.
