There is no 100k warranty. All M3's come with a 100k ENGINE warranty. That doesnt cover maintenance or other repairs. Inspection I and II are pricey, but independent shops can do them for alot less than $1500. That's a pretty good price, and ok mileage. I'd check the history for the rod bearing recall.

We just bought a 2003 M3 at the auction the other day for $22,000. Same milage. $27000 isn't a bad price. Is he buying from a dealership or privately?

We live in Phoenix, Az. Not too much to worry about as far as weather goes, and he wants something a little less boy racerish. To be honest. I dont blame him. If I was in his position and I could find a 2003 M3 for near that price in white Id probably jump on it lol.

I think its from a dealership..Ill have to ask him.

Thanks for all the good info everyone.
Hah, no kidding, my payments on the evo = as much as m3 costs just for maintenance. .

I test drove a convertible and didn't really like it much. I heard the coupe is a different beast though. As long as your buddy is happy with it and can afford it, i think it's a great price.

$1500 every 15k-30k is not including oil changes (oil changes are around $70, 10 bucks a filter and 7qts at $8-$10 a quart.

Reason why they are so expensive is because they have solid lifters and to do maintenance on solid lifters you need special tools that are made by bmw (shims and such).

Four years/50k miles, that's as far as the free service goes, and since it is an '02 the four years has already been exceeded.

I was going to say, I don't like how the M3's engine sounds (very metallic, wierd sound) and who would want to listen to that....but I remember I got an evo and the ****ing thing is loud and annoying as hell...so I'm pretty much making fun of myself :/

The service is only expensive if you take it to a dealer. Most indy shops will do it for less than $1k.

The rasp (metallic sound) is easily eliminated with an X-pipe.
