E36 M3 would make the best road course car..... tons and tons of parts available.

I'd have a hard time choosing it. Either the Saab or the M3.

The thing that i would take into consideration is Saab = AWD. (all year round car).
M3(rwd.. not so great in the snow). Well I live in Boston. So that pretty much explains it.
Exactly!

The Saab has a tons of aftermarket support actually, same as the WRX...

the Z is nice. Sounds great. Not so fast.. Mainly looks and sound.

S2000 = handles crazy.. Top off during the summer would be cool. Able to rev to 9k rpm is good BUTTTT... NO TORQUE WHATSOEVER.. It felt SOOOO SLOW.. I test drove one.

There are plenty of options in the under $20,000 range in my opinion. The Saab is nice, but I can see you spending $5,000 or more just to put down 260-280awhp and run high 12s if your lucky. I really think you will be disappointed especially coming from an EVO that was pretty modified.

I can speak for 3 out of 4 of the cars you mentiones.

The Saab, straight out stay away, WRX for modding is the biggest POS ever made, also save up a few thousand dollars to pay for the transmission as soon as you do any mods

The BMW M-3, I drove my brothers 97 and 98, the 98 had a dinan SC and it was decent but the body style on BMW gets very very old very quick. Not a bad car but the mods are pricy.

The 2G DSM is a must, they can handle abuse and modding them are absurdly cheap, they are as quick or quicker than the Evos with the same mods. The weakenest is the braking and handling, you would eventually have to upgrade both. Braking simply sucks.

The 350Z is stylish but is slow compared to a 2DSM with silly mods. They can handle decently but you will be a cat in the water if any Evo or STI pulls side by side.

What is your budget, what are your goals?

The support is good but modding it wouldn't produce significant gains compare to an Evo. If Saab dealers are as diks as the Subaru dealers then you are out of luck, the moment you modded you will loose the warranty.

He was talking about the NA Supra: 3,500 lbs and 222 crank hp, the perfect recipe for performance embarrassment. (think mid/high 15's)

Do you plan on keeping the evo?

What about the OG M Coupe?

Otherwise, based on your list, I say E36 M3 FTW!

Count out the Supra... people underestimate the time and money put into those cars especially modded ones. You won't find a nice MKIV NA even with low miles for under $18-20,000. And there slow, and no an NA-T isn't that great. Don't bother you don't have the coin for it. Modding an E36 M3 isn't cheap so throw out your "it will be modded to my hearts desire" crap. Saabaru, why would you buy that over a WRX... the suspension set up is smushier, meh. You need to remap your game plan

I say buy a cheap transporter, such as a early to mid 90s Civic and just save your money and buy a EVO X in a year or two. Seriously I don't know your situation and the reasons for you getting rid of your EVO, but going from a 05 EVO w/ a GT30R turbo setup probably making 400whp on pump gas to any of these choices (except the 2g DSM) is just a recipe for disappointment if you ask me. But if you had to choose from these, then the 2g DSM would be your best option.

Why do you want to sell the evo? just curious as ive thought about it as well (not sure if all the money i spent could have been better spent on another car).

as for your next car, i used to have an e36 m3 and its really nice, but if anything goes wrong, you will be paying an arm and a leg to get it fixed. also, modding it gets very expensive for the gains you get, dont get me wrong, suspension mods will make it handle extremely well, but power mods are costly.

the supra is always on top of most people's lists (hell ive thought about it countless times). i dont really like your other choices, i would suggest a 240 with the sr20 swap or what would be really a crazy set up that is modern is a s2k with the 2jzgte swap! depending on your budget, if you want to be unique you can get scottyo's r33 skyline.

I'm selling the Evo because i just moved out on my own about 6 months ago, and i'm sick of struggling by every month; so i'm getting a cheaper car (under $20k) to free up funds. Now that being said, getting a car that cheap is freeing up A LOT of money for me; so like i said, i will be modding to my hearts desire...

Anyway, the Saab was my orignal idea because it is a beautiful car, and would be sick to make fast; you just don't see any "fast" Saabs. I'm not interested in a WRX, because, well, i could never own a Subaru... Now i know lots of you have experience in the Subaru world, and know that tons of money spent only gets you a broken tranny and less than 300 whp; but see my thing is, i'm going all the way with my next car, so i was planning on like a JDM STI EJ207 ver7 motor w/ gt35r or something. I mean, I plan for it to be a big production, not modding the stock block and adding some ****ty VF series turbo.

My next idea was the E36 M3, until the one i wanted sold, and i checked the insurance on them. I have pretty much all but thrown that idea out the window. And i was never REALLY interested in the Supra, jus lookin.

So now this brings me to where i'm at now, which is the s2k. I'll go look at 2g's right now, i haven't even gone there yet...

Not really interested in an M coupe...
